Curriculum Alignment: Northwest Territories

Part of the Canadian Provincial Curriculum Alignment series.

A three-book Canadian financial-literacy workbook series by Michael McCracken: Book 1 — The Money Starter Pack (foundations, suggested Grades 6–9), Book 2 — The Grind (paycheques, taxes, credit, investing; Grades 9–12), Book 3 — Endgame (advanced planning; senior grades/adult). Print workbooks, 8.5×11, greyscale, with write-in activities throughout. The NWT is completing its phased adoption of the BC curriculum (2023–2027, from an Alberta base) — both mappings are available during the transition.

The NWT is phasing in BC’s JK–12 curriculum through 2027 and has published graduation requirements under it. Cohorts still completing Alberta-based courses (including CALM) are covered by the Alberta one-pager; new cohorts map to the BC anchors below.

All dollar figures, tax rates, and contribution limits reflect 2026 published values, with in-text reminders to verify current rates at canada.ca.

Scope

Confirm with ECE which framework applies to a given school year during the transition window. The budgeting chapter’s explicit treatment of high-cost-of-living households is a natural fit for NWT classrooms.
